About This Competition

The Oklahoma College Public Relations Association Awards Competition recognizes the best in contemporary communications from educational institutions -- both public and private -- throughout the State of Oklahoma.  This annual competition was created in 1992 by the OCPRA to reward achievement, recognize excellence and encourage a healthy competitive spirit by those who represent higher education to the public.  Materials are submitted by individuals who work in public relations, sports information, video, development or alumni affairs at any of the state’s higher education institutions. Entrants are not required to be members of OCPRA.

Contest Information

ELIGIBILITY - Any project produced or implemented by an Oklahoma institution of higher education, whether public or private, from June 2016 through May 2017. A single project can be entered in more than one category. The fee per entry is $25 for members and $35 for non-members.

JUDGING - Entries will be judged by panels of experts who are not current residence of Oklahoma and are not OCPRA members.

AWARDS - The judges will select, at their discretion, winners of the Grand, Excellence and Achievement Awards in each category. Awards will not necessarily be given in each category. In some cases, judges will grant Honorable Mention Awards. The names of the institution responsible for the winning entry and up to two individual names will appear on the awards certificate. Additional plaques can be ordered for $35 each from the awards chair.

USE OF ENTRY FEE - After the awards competition expenses have been paid (printing, awards, online submission platform), the income from the entry fees supports the work of the OCPRA.
